The R. Keith Newton Music Education Essay Competition ­

given by the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs.

 

1st  Place Award – $700

2nd Place Award - $400
3rd Place Award - $200

 

ELIGIBILITY

1.      Applicants must be in their SOPHOMORE or JUNIOR year in college, majoring in MUSIC

EDUCATION and must be a citizen of the United States.

2.           Application Fee of  $15 must be submitted with a copy of the application to: Jeannine Morris, 200 Country Club Drive SE, Warren, OH 44484-4660.

3.           Students must be attending a college affiliated with OFMC to be eligible to apply.


 

The awards will be based on the following requirements:

*  An essay of 500 words or less on what constitutes a good music educator, and why you are selecting this

    profession;

         *   A recommendation in writing, from one of the music faculty of your college;

         *   Your grade point average will also be considered

 

A check will be issued to the winner’s college, in your name, in September.   This check will apply toward tuition for your junior or senior year.
