RULES:
1.
The
competition is open to any citizen of the

Entrants
must be attending a college or university that is affiliated with the Ohio
Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC). All
school memberships must be for the current year. Entrants do not need to be music composition
majors.
3.
Entrants
must submit only one original and unpublished composition for each annual
contest. Entrants are not eligible to
win the First Prize in two consecutive years.
4.
The
performance time for the composition must be between four and ten minutes. Choose one of the following
Classifications: (Class 1) Sonata or
comparable work for solo wind or string instrument with piano, or for any
combination of three to five instruments, of which the piano may be one. (Class 2) Chorus work (Class 3) Piano solo. (Class 4) Vocal solo, with piano, organ, or
orchestral accompaniment; English text. Solo/ensemble
arrangements or ensemble settings of standard works are not eligible.
5.
Using
a pseudonym (nom de plume) to identify them, submit three legible, bound manuscripts
of the composition and three recordings (CD or tape). Include performance time. Loose sheets will not be accepted.
6.
Include
the official entry form obtainable from your music department, the OFMC Web
site (www.ofmc.org),
or the contest chair; and the entry fee (for amount, see entry form). Your true name and your nom de plume both need
to appear on the entry form.
7.
Enclose
a large, self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of manuscripts and
recordings after judging is completed. Use
your true name on this envelope. (While
reasonable caution will be exercised, OFMC cannot assume any responsibility for
damage, loss, or destruction of any entry.
Entrants should retain a copy of the work submitted.)
8.
Send
entries by mail or express, charges prepaid, to be received by the state chair by March 1 the year of the
competition.
9.
The
judges will consider creative ability, technical excellence, and any special
talents shown by the composer. If no
entry is worthy of an award, none will be made.
10.
This
state contest coincides in timing with the National Student/Collegiate
Composers Contest sponsored by NFMC. Requirements
are similar. Any OFMC entrant majoring in music composition who is a
college junior, senior, or graduate student is eligible to enter. For entry form (ST 4-2), requirements (ST
