 Marjorie Neville Collaborative Piano Competition (for accompanying)

 

Purpose: This competition is established to offer opportunity to the piano student who prefers accompanying to solo playing.  Being a successful accompanist is an art.

 

Applicant must be:

  1. age 19-26, and may not enter if you turn 26 prior to Feb. 28 of the competition year
  2. must be enrolled in a college or university affiliated with Ohio Federation of Music Clubs
  3. a native born or naturalized citizen of the United States of America.
  4. Entrants may not receive a first or second-place award in more than one OFMC Competition in the same year, and winners of this award may not apply in consecutive years.

Award: The $1,000 award will be determined by the adjudicators, whose decision will be final.  Unless high standards of performance are met, no winner will be declared. There will be a $200 honorarium to the soloist.

  1. Entry Fee: $20  The check should be made payable to  the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC) and mailed with a copy of the application to: OFMC Treasurer, Jeannine Morris, 200 Country Club Dr SE, Warren, OH 44484-4660.

Audition: 

1.             Applicant will be required to play two pieces from different historical periods of intermediate level and above difficulty. 

2.             The music should be a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 20 minutes in duration. 

3.             The accompanist should bring a soloist with whom she/he has been working and a copy of the music for the judges (no photocopies).

4.        The applicant may be asked to sight read a piece of the judges' choice.
