RULES:
1.
This contest
shall be open to any citizen of the

Entrant
shall be attending a college or university or music school affiliated with the
Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC). Entrant
shall be studying music but not necessarily majoring in music composition. School’s OFMC affiliation shall be for the
current year.
3.
Entrant
shall submit only one composition (entry), original and unpublished, for each
annual contest. Entrant shall not be eligible
to win First Prize in two consecutive years.
4.
Performance
time for entry shall be between four and ten minutes. Entry shall conform to one of the following: (Class 1) Sonata or comparable work for solo
wind or string instrument with piano, or for any combination of three to five
instruments, of which the piano may be one.
(Class 2) Chorus work (Class 3)
Piano solo. (Class 4) Vocal solo, with
piano, organ, or orchestral accompaniment; English text. Solo/ensemble arrangements or ensemble
settings of standard works shall not be eligible.
5.
Entrant
shall submit three legible, bound manuscripts and three recordings (CD or tape)
of entry, using pseudonym (nom de plume) on each and including performance
time. Loose sheets not acceptable.
6.
In entry
packet, entrant shall include official entry form (obtainable from entrant’s
music department, OFMC Web site www.ofmc.org, or contest chair) and entry fee (amount
on entry form). Entrant’s true name and
nom de plume shall both appear on entry form.
7.
Also
in entry packet, entrant shall enclose large, self-addressed (using true name),
stamped envelope for return of manuscripts and recordings after judging is
completed. While reasonable caution will
be exercised, OFMC shall not assume any responsibility for damage, loss, or
destruction of any entry. Entrant should
retain copy of work submitted.
8.
Entrant
shall send entry packet by mail or express, charges prepaid, to be received by contest
chair by March 1 in year of contest.
9.
The
judges shall consider creative ability, technical excellence, and any special
talents shown by entrant. If no
entry is worthy of an award, none will be made.
10.
This
state contest coincides in timing with the National Student/Collegiate
Composers Contest sponsored by NFMC. Requirements
are similar. Any OFMC entrant majoring in music composition who is a
college junior, senior, or graduate student is eligible to enter. For entry form (ST 4-2), requirements (ST 4-1),
